ComunIP prototyped a Session Border Controller

Por Balena - Postado em 7 de maio, 2010

ComunIP customers started to claim for a better and cheaper solution for their carrier-class session border controllers. A Session Border Controller is a solution that increases service providers’ peering and interconnection experience between edges of VoIP network. Using SBC, IP-based voice and multimedia services can be managed and, securely, delivered to end-users and corporate customers.

To accomplish this, ComunIP started in 2009 to develop a SBC based purely on software using the GIPS Voice Mediation Engine for Linux. The first prototype already runned for demonstrations. By collecting feedback from interested spectators, the development team is now working in a brand new specification targeted to ease of use.

The final solution will work on VMware appliances running a special optimized Gentoo Linux maintained by ComunIP, to simplify the deployment of the SBC product. The user will need just to open a VMware terminal and do the initial setup of the SBC box.
